Saturday, April 6, 2:30 p.m.
Ages: 7-14
Our 7th Poetry Slam will celebrate the spoken word and Women’s History Month with an opportunity for our wise and witty wordsmiths to shine a light on their rhyming rep, share their poems and compete for the title of Poet Laureate. Who are the women that inspire you? Mothers, sisters, teachers, or librarians. Aviators and astronauts or explorers and entertainers. Writers or fighters. Compose a tribute to the brave woman or women who have transformed your world for the better. Award winning author and poet, Hope Anita Smith, will host and judge our poets for their poem’s content and performance.
We are looking for poets alone or in a group, ages 7-14, to recite their original poem, rap, lyric, haiku, verse, sonnet, or other word collection. Each poet or poets will get three minutes to recite or rap a poem or lyrics they’ve written.
