Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer Movie

Attending a movie premiere is an experience of a lifetime! It was super cool to arrive early and watch the set up on the event. There were cameras, press, and movie stars everywhere! People were all around taking pictures, videos, and asking for autographs. The stars walked down a carpeted area that was green with paw prints on it – not actually a “red carpet”. The stars of the movie walked down the carpet and were interviewed by the press.
It was exciting to interview so many of the movie stars who were excited to be at the premiere too! We interviewed Megan McDonald, author of the Judy Moody books, Jordana, who plays Judy, Paris who plays Judy’s brother “Stink” and many others. I asked many of the stars what their plans were for the summer and what their favorite part of the movie was. Everyone was friendly, stopped to have their picture taken, eager to be interviewed and answer our questions. I was even able to see Heather Graham, a very famous movie star!
Megan McDonald, the author of the Judy Moody book series said she is working on a new book about a lucky charm….can’t wait till it comes out. The movie was great fun – I laughed a lot! My favorite scene was when Judy was on a tight rope and her friend wanted to get on quickly and they both fell off the tight rope into a stream. There are a lot of crazy scenes and it’s a terrific summer adventure. Don’t miss the movie as it will be a big thrilladelphic summer hit and you will want to see it with all your friends. “Judy Moody and the Not so Bummer Summer” rocks!

“Judy Moody and the NOT So Bummer Summer” movie stars Jordana Beatty, Parris Mosteller and Megan McDonald, author of the Judy Moody books, were at the LA Times Book Festival. Yipee…the Judy Moody movie will be coming out in June.

Q. Where was the movie filmed?

A. The film was made in Los Angeles. Two different real houses were used for filming – one house was used for the front yard, another for the backyard and a set was used to film the inside of the house.

Q. How did you prepare for the movie?

A.Jordanna is from Australia and Parris is from Los Angeles. Jordana prepared for the movie by taking two weeks of language lessons to learn to not sound like she is from Australian. They both worked to memorize their lines, worked with wardrobe and hairstyles.

Q. Was this movie from a book?

A. This movie is not a book. It combines different parts of things from the Judy Moody books.

Q. Did anything unexpected or silly happen when you were making the movie?

A. There is a thrill scene in the movie where Judy’s friend Frank rides a roller coaster and he barfs all over Judy. Jordana, who plays Judy in real life does not like heights so was scared during this scene. The barf was made out of yogurt and blue food coloring. There were other unplanned things that happened like with elephant tusks.

Q. What was the crew like and what did you do when you were not filming?

A.The actors had fun playing games and pranks with the crew. The actors went to school when they weren’t filming.

Q. What was your favorite book you’ve written?

A. The author’s favorite book is “Judy Moody Goes to College” since college was a fun time for the author Megan and she thought Judy as a 3rd grader would have lots of fun adventures at college.

This movie has lots of fun thrill scenes and will be the perfect movie for kids to see this summer. It’s amazing, funny and cool!
