Many people are already familiar with Perfect Harmony and La JaJa Kid’s joint production, Chinese Opera Treasures, The Rising Stars. But most don’t know the stars behind the show. Because Chinese Opera is usually performed by professional adults, we are so proud of our 14 young and talented performers! These fourteen stars from Hong Kong and Los Angeles have mastered the art in grace and perfection to perform the most elegant show on August 23, 2014.

Aside from dancing and singing, one essential part of Chinese opera are the beautiful robes and garments that the performers wear.

Like all talents, Chinese Opera comes with its hardships.
"The two biggest challenges that I had to learn to overcome was teamwork & singing
But by the time it's showtime, the performers are ready.
"I love going on stage to show an audience all my hard work. “

Its impressive to be an opera star at such a young age, but Carissa manages to do it perfectly!

Anthony ~~
Anthony's goal is different from most teenagers at his age.
“I started learning Chinese Opera in 2012 when I was 10. …. I am planning to save up this skill so I can become a Chinese opera legend."
Already a talented performer, Anthony aspires to be even better and earn the title of a Chinese Opera Legend.

You may think that some of these young performers were pushed to learn Chinese Opera, but Angeline Nim shows that they pursue Chinese Opera because it is their passion.
“I started learning Chinese Opera in 2014 when I was 10. … I think it is fun and I wanted to. I also think it is a very good experience.”

Langie --
Chinese Opera is about the feel and the texture of the music, mixed with graceful choreography. Langie Tseng shares her favorite songs and dances that capture so much emotion into one performance.
"My favorite song is peony pavilion-The Enhancing Garden. My favorite part to do at Cantonese opera is playing ‘watersleeves’ and flappy birdy."

“I started learning Chinese Opera in 2014 when I was 7. … I like to be in TV because it is fun.”

All that matters is that these young talents are doing what they love and care about.
“I started learning Chinese Opera when I was 6. …. I think it will be fun, interesting and a good experience. What I enjoy the most about opera is that it shows me a different side of the China from what I see now. ”
When asked "what's the most different part in learning Chinese opera?", she says: "Understanding the story is sometimes really hard, but if you don't know the story, it is hard to perform it well."
