Children are neglecting the importance or learning a new language more and more. They feel that as long as they live in America, the only language that is needed is english, but as they grow up, they regret more and more their negligance of another language.
Learning a foreign language not only helps you when you visit foreign countries, but opens many doors and opportunities as well. Currently, occupations are requiring bilinguals or multilinguals as one of the "skills" that are needed, and while other jobs do not have these requirements, being multilingual helps build connections and builds good impressions.
While many high schools offer language courses for up to four years, it is not enough to suffice going into the real world. A highschooler named Yii-Huei Phang accounts that the measly three years of foreign language in schools did not help much. Though many children are attending foreign language schools and studying on their own, it is unfortunate that others are losing their grasp on language.
