Jazzy Ash and the Leaping Lizards at Family Arts Fest
Saturday, March 2, 2019
Family Arts Fest 11 AM–3 PM • Jazzy Ash Performances at 11 AM and 1 PM
Smothers Theatre and Gregg G. Juarez Courtyard
Enjoy a family-friendly day of art, food, and fun, featuring museum tours, backstage tours, an interactive dance party, and two performances by children’s musical group Jazzy Ash and the Leaping Lizards at this year’s Family Arts Fest!
Sure to “incite smiles and foot tapping" (Rock Father Blog), Jazzy Ash and the Leaping Lizards utilize a mixture of gypsy jazz, zydeco, swing, blues, and Dixieland to encourage kids and families to celebrate the music of New Orleans as part of the American folk-music heritage.
The day’s other activities include dance parties with Princess Ellie, exciting magic shows with Stephen Bailey, face-painting by Rainbow Painted Smiles, and a mask making art project.
There will also be guided tours of the current museum exhibition, Richard Diebenkorn: Beginnings, 1942–1955, as well as tours of the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts’ backstage areas, including the scene shop.
Food trucks scheduled for the event include Serendoggity, Pacific Pizza Co., Dreamy Creations, and The Original Grilled Cheese Truck.
