In celebration of this month’s run of director Alfonso Cuarón’s critically-acclaimed drama Roma, The Frida Cinema is proud to present four classics directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker, kicked off by his highly-acclaimed entry in the Harry Potter saga, 2004’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!
Shot in shadow and silver gradation to cast a darker and foreboding visual experience, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione during their third year at Hogwarts. As their studies begin to delve into serious subjects, the escaped serial killer Sirius Black, who is believed to have selected Harry as his next target, poses a major threat to the gifted young wizardry student and his friends.
With the help of series regulars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, Cuaron brews a frightening fantasy film that helped move the series away from its family-friendly predecessors into more dangerous territory. Argued by some to be the best film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a new classic with plenty of thrills, laughs, and breathtaking adventure for dreamers of all ages.
