LA Opera presents Opera at the Beach, a live broadcast sponsored by Los Angeles County and by Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. Our season opener of CARMEN, starring Ana Maria Martinez and conducted by James Conlon, will be broadcast live in high-definition from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to the big screen at the Santa Monica Pier, Saturday, September 23, 2017.
Back by popular demand, Opera at the Beach returns for the fourth year in a row to the Santa Monica Pier, following La Traviata in 2014, Gianni Schicchi / Pagliacci in 2015, and Macbeth in 2016. “Talk about a fantastic double bill! Opera at the Beach brings you the world-class LA Opera production of Carmen and the beautiful Pacific Ocean at the same time,” said Supervisor Kuehl, who represents the Third District, which includes the city of Santa Monica. “Bring your beach chair and picnic basket and join us at the Santa Monica Pier to reach for the stars in all directions!”
This event is FREE to the public and will not be ticketed, but RSVP’s are encouraged for additional information and a free gift on-site. Please arrive early to secure the best seats at the Park as seating is GENERAL ADMISSION.
Doors open at 5:00pm – Live big screen broadcast begins at 7:00pm! A bike valet is available for your convenience from 5:00 – 11:30pm. The valet is located near the volleyball courts on the south side of the Pier
