Come celebrate Acorn Day under the oaks at O’Neill Regional Park. It’s a free, family-friendly day of excitement and learning with activities for every age: free crafts for kids, a live butterfly enclosure, active games, face painting, live music and introductory ukulele lessons, nature and animal exhibits, a very special storytelling session with painting on water, acorn and oak tree planting and much more for the entire family!
Guided nature hikes to the Water Tower will be offered at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Don’t miss a visit to the OC Parks “Nature on the Go” trailer and cast your very own plaster animal track to take home. Check out OC Astronomers solar telescope.
Presentations include a book signing with the author of “How to Draw 60 Native CA Plants and Animals, a Field Guide”, The Hummingbird Nest Story and a live butterfly release at 1:30 p.m. by Western Monarch Guardian.
Participants include groups from throughout Orange County including The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo, Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary,The Institute for Wildlife Studies, Inside the Outdoors, SHARE Mountain Bike Club, Orange County Fire Watch, Friends of the Dana Point Headlands, The Saddleback Area Historical Society, OC Parks Regional Trails and Bikeways, Saddleback Canyon Riders, Southwestern Field Herping Associates, Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District, The Helena Modjeska Foundation, The John D. Cooper Archeological and Paleontological Center and more.
