Family Day: Kids for Peace

Make art, spread peace. Our free annual family festival fills the museum with art, music, performances, and more. The Grilled Cheese Truck and Cafe Vietnam Truck will have food for sale.

Note that the galleries will be closed, but there will be several outdoor works on view.

  • Enjoy an interactive musical storytelling session with Baba the Storyteller.
  • Celebrate the rich history of protest quilts by making your own with Diedrick Brackens.
  • Make wishes for our planet and cast them into a giant fishing net with Carolina Caycedo.
  • Make a garden that moves with Beatriz Cortez.
  • Make a print with Olga Koumoundouros that celebrates your neighborhood and community.
  • Get in the groove with Lula Washington Youth Dance Ensemble and celebrate family through dance and culture.
  • Make a song book about solidarity with Public Fiction, in collaboration with Camille Mackler, Director of Immigration Legal Policy at New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC).
  • Join Shizu Saldamando in tracing a portrait of your loved one and declaring what makes them special.
  • Experience an interactive puppetry performance full of fantasy and funnies with Audrey Densmore and Jared Ramirez.
  • Help Comfort Campaign and Miry’s List make welcome signs and drawings for newly arrived refugee children.
  • Hear youth from Street Poets, Inc. harness the healing power of poetry.
  • Music courtesy of Wild Dreams.
  • Spread cotton candy love with LoveSwirls.
  • Enjoy the guitar and ukulele tunes of Noah James & Brendan Brandt.
